Vector Orange

What We Are Making!

Step 1: I will teach you how to make a vector fruit in this tutorial. You can start by opening a new document size 400 by 400. The next thing you should do is make a new layer. Once you have that layer grab the elliptical marquee tool, which is your first tool on your tool menu on the left side. So in your new layer what you want to do is make a perfect circle. The way you can do that is by holding down shift, and then drawing out your circle. Once you have it color it in the color

Step 2: Now cut the circle in half using the rectangular marquee tool which is at the same spot the elliptical marquee tool is. Create another layer. Then grab the elliptical marquee tool again, and make a slanted circile on top of the half circle so it looks like its half a orange. Then just color it in the color, "FFCC00".

Step 3: Now we will make this look like a vector but you have to make sure you know how your going to do the shading of colors. Imagine the sun is in the top right corner. So the light is hitting from the top so that means the bottom will be darker.

Now we will not use any gradients in this tutorial. Everything will be pure color. So now what you want to do is make another layer. We will be using the pen tool so make sure you are familiar with that. We will want to make little shapes of shading at the bottom of the orange, the part that looks like a coffee cup.

Then go to windows/path/right click on the path and make a selection. Then color it in the color, "EEAD00". That is slightly darker then the original color.

Start making smaller shapes in that shape, and keep coloring it in a darker shade of orange every time. Do it about two more times going with these colors in order. DCA000, and CD9500.

Now you want to do the same thing on top of that same layer. This time you will want to go lighter because we are closer to the light. Use the colors FFC52A, then FFC834.

Step 4: Leave that part alone for now. What we want to do is make the shapes of the top of the orange. So once again make a new layer. Make the shapes with your pen tool on top of the orange. You can zoom in to make it easier for yourself.

Make a selection and make it the color, "FFB400".

Once you have that duplicate the layer. Then go to layer/layer style/blending options/color and give it a FF9000 color. Then grab the eraser tool. Make sure its the brush size 27. Then erase around the orange. That way it looks like a shade from one orange to another.

Now make smaller shapes inside those shapes. Zoom in againt to help you. Then color them in the color white.

The next part is to set the opacity of that to 22%. Then you should have that glance. Now remember the slanted circle we drew so it looks like the top of the orange. Duplicate that layer. Then make it the color white. Then go to edit/ transform/ scale. Make this circle fit into the original circle but so that its slightly smaller. Then make the opacity to 42%.

Step 4: The last thing to do is to make another layer. Now you will make another shape on top of the bottom of the orange, but this time its a big shape that will cover most of the orange. Once you make this shape color it in white, and make the opacity to 20%.

Draw one last slanted circle on top of all the shapes on the top of the orange. Color it in white, and make the opacity to 13%, and your finally done. You have your vector orange.
